About Dr. Comisi Dr. Comisi has been in the private practice of General Dentistry in Ithaca, NY since 1983. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Fordham University. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry , the American Dental Association , the New York State Dental Association , the Sixth District Dental Society . Dr. Comisi is a Past President of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry , a Fellow of The Academy of General Dentistry , a Fellow in the Academy of Dentistry International , a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry ,a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and a Past President of the Tompkins County Dental Society. In October 2006, Dr. Comisi received another honor. He received a Fellowship in the International College of Dentists. The International College of Dentists is a leading honorary dental organization dedicated to the recognition of outstanding professional achievement and meritorious service and the continued progress of the profession of dentistry for the benefit of all humankind. On April 19, 2007 he was elected by the NYSAGD Board of Directors to represent Region 2 (New York State) as a member of the Board of Trustees to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Dr. Comisi lectures on various dental topics and has presented courses nationally and internationally. He is a member of Dental Team Concepts, a group of Key Opinion Leaders (KOL's) whose mission is to bring unbiased clinical education to dental professionals. He served on the Board of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce (1997 - 2000), and is a Distinguished Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Ithaca (1990).
He is a member of the Executive Board of the Baden-Powell Council, BSA. Dr. Comisi is a recipient of the prestigious Silver Beaver Award which was presented by the Baden-Powell Council, BSA to him in February 2006. This is a national award presented annually by the Council for outstanding service to youth within the Council. He is also a past President of the Sixth District Dental Society , a component of the New York State Dental Association . Dr. Comisi has served on the Academy of General Dentistry' s Council on Group Benefits (1993 -1995), has served as Chairman of the Academy's Internet Task Force (1995 - 1996), and Chairman of the Academy's Internet Council (1996 - 2001). In May, 2004, Dr. Comisi was recognized by his peers and received the New York State Academy of General Dentistry's, Meritorious Service Award, for his "dedication and service to (his) peers and his patients by setting high standards in dentistry..." |
